IMPORTANT INFORMATION
DEFINING TERMS: COACH VS. THERAPIST
What is life coaching? As a coach, I am not a healthcare professional. My job is to work with you to clarify goals and identify obstacles and problematic behaviours in order to create action plans to achieve your desired results. As a coach, I take your current starting point as an acceptable neutral ground and is more action-based from that point onward. My job is to enable you with tools and skills to take control of your life and take action to steer it toward your ideal goals.
What is therapy? Just to clarify, although I am a partially trained therapeutic counsellor, I do not operate as a counsellor, I am a mental wellness coach. I am not a Therapist or a counsellor. With that said, Therapy, also called counselling or psychotherapy, is a long-term process in which a client works with a healthcare professional to diagnose and resolve problematic beliefs, behaviours, relationship issues, feelings and sometimes physical responses. The idea behind therapy is to focus on past traumas and issues to change self-destructive habits, repair and improve relationships and work through painful feelings. In this sense, therapy focuses on the past and on introspection and analysis, with the hope of resolving past issues and creating a happier, more stable future.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
You can have as many sessions or as little as you need. With that said, I usually encourage a consistent session of 6 weeks to help encourage a good flow of working together. But the power to book a session seats with you.
HOW FREQUENTLY DO I NEED A SESSION?
You can decide on how many sessions you would like; everyone’s circumstances are different which means during the initial session, we can decide what works best for you, and your coaching needs.
CAN A FAMILY MEMBER OR FRIEND JOIN ONE OR MORE OF MY SESSIONS?
The coaching sessions will always be conducted with the coaching client alone. Friends or families will not be able to join any of our coaching sessions. Our coaching sessions are designed to help you feel safe and work in a non-judgemental environment.
HOW DO I MEASURE MY PROGRESS?
Each session is designed to follow your needs, working towards the goals you wish to achieve. Before the end of each session, we will come up with a list of tasks to complete for the upcoming week and discuss your progress at the start of our next session.
WILL MY SESSIONS BE CONFIDENTIAL?
Yes, all conversations and information will be confidential as allowable by law.
